Bringing Home your King Charles Puppy

So, you have decided to adopt a new member of the family; a King Charles Cavalier puppy! Now what? You are excited to welcome the newest member of your family, and you may have already decided on the perfect name, but you may not be sure of how to best prepare to care for your new puppy.

Before you bring home your puppy, you’ll want to ask the breeder if he is up to date on his shots. If you are adopting your King Charles Cavalier puppy from Grandeur Valley Puppies, he or she is guaranteed to be ready to go! (If you are adopting from another breeder, and your puppy is not up to date on their shots, it’s best to get that taken care of as soon as possible.)

Of course, you will need to pick up some supplies as you prepare to welcome your puppy. A bed or puppy crate, puppy food, leash, collar, toys, and treats should be at the top of your shopping list.

When selecting what your puppy will eat, make sure that the food is filled with the quality protein and nutrients to help your puppy grow up strong and healthy. In the long run, cheap puppy chow is a bad choice; the low-grade fillers and artificial colors don’t do any favors for the health of your beloved puppy. Another thing to consider is where your puppy will sleep. Do you want him to have free roam? Then you need a doggie bed, Would you rather she is a little more confined? Then look into getting a dog crate.

Dog toys and treats are also great to have for the new puppy. But be sure the treats are a nutritious benefit to your dog, and when buying toys consider things like what they are made of, are they durable enough, are they the right size? Are they made of toxic materials? Don't assume that just because it is in the pet supply store means it is the right choice for your pet.

Next on the list is a comfortable collar and leash. believe it or not; there are various styles, colors, and sizes to chose from! Have fun and chose one that fits your puppies personality!

Bringing a new puppy home can be seem a bit overwhelming. But with the right preparation, and by making use of these tips, you can lessen the stress you feel and help to ensure a smooth transition as you bring home your puppy.
